A cult classic that beats all the other cult classics. This truly is a fabulous film. I could mislead and say sarcastically, "oh this film is one not to be missed," but to be honest, this film is one truly not to be missed. Watching it for the fifth time last night, I have now decided this film tops my list of all time favorite movies as number one. It's hidden agenda of expressing to the viewer that we all are zombies whether we are flesh eaters or text messages, we all in some way or another are zombies in our own ways. The transformation Shawn takes from being a nothing, a loser, a man doing nothing with his life to becoming a leader and saving the lives of his friends and his one true love Liz is well written and at time touching. The most tender event in the film is when Shawn's mother is bitten and passes, then turns in to the living dead, starts to attack them and with tears streaming down Shawn's face, "sorry mom," he pulls the trigger and destroys his zombie mother, he collapses on the floor and wails uncontrollably muttering, "I'm so sorry." This film is something that cannot be missed, with a mixture of comedy, drama, and heart felt love. Never would you think a film about zombies could be about so much more. Don't miss this one of a kind thriller.

Snoopers

Seldom do we as humans, stumble upon perfection, or in this case magic. The mundane droll of day to day life easily gets us down and we are left with a sense of despair. However when we find something that shines a light in an otherwise drab existence, we need to hold onto that and cherish it; today's film is one of those magical items that we need to embrace. "Snoopers" is by far the most miraculous and magnificent films created by the hands of man, truly a film that acknowledges the existence of a god. German made, this masterpiece is it's genre's greatest film, it brings with it a sense of fulfillment, life is complete once this film is viewed. Relatively unknown, the actors stir emotions that normally are hardly tapped, embrace these emotions and saturate your lives with this work of wonder. The film begins with the "knickerbocker" gang foiling yet another mystery. They are a new age "Scooby gang" without the campy Scooby. Their methods may be obscure, but the mystery will be solved when the "knickerbockers" are on the case. Originally filmed in Europe, the audio has been voiced-over to make the America viewer comfortable without needing to understand the thick local accents. Flavoring the film, the voice-overs don't always match the lip movement of the actors but that is hardly noticed with the fantastically wonderful writing. This is a must see film that has something for everyone, mystery, romance, suspense and voice-overs. Don't miss this obscure work of art. I give it five Prozac's out of five.

Return of the Living Dead

Mere words cannot express the emotions that flow while enjoying this gem. It begins with a young man, Freddy, beginning a new job, a new venture in his life if you will. He works for a company that provides human bodies to colleges for educational purposes. Freddy's boss is non other than Frank, the tough yet lovable and loyal supervisor who believes that hard work and a fun environment makes good productive employees. Frank show Freddy around and finally takes him to the office where he show Freddy how to fill out some paperwork. "What is the weirdest thing you've seen come through here?" Freddy inquires. "The thing that caps it all," Frank begins, is a government screw up. Frank tells Freddy that years ago there was a chemical that the government wanted to produce for war-time purposes that somehow spilled into a morgue making the dead bodies spring to life, they were re-animated dead bodies. The government, not wanting this to get to the press, sent the captured bodies to a company that would dispose of the corpses, however due to a shipping mix-up, some of the bodies were shipped to Freddy's new employer. The owner, Burt, and Frank decided to keep the bodies and put them in basement where they wouldn't be disturbed and virtually out of the way of their everyday practices. Freddy, shocked, disbelieves the story. Frank takes Freddy downstairs and shows him; the story was true, it's all true. Frank smacks the side of the barrel and the potent chemical spills out and engulfs Frank and Freddy; eventually they to turn into the living dead. The chemical makes it's way to a local cemetery and pandemonium ensues. "It hurts to be dead," says one of the characters, and the only out of the pain for the poor living impaired is to eat live brains. This film is well crafted and well acted, while it unfortunately didn't win awards, it remains one the quintessential films of this century. So hunker down with some popcorn and soda, pop in the movie and watch as movie magic at it's finest ensues.
